Fiberglass Round Tube Introduction

TOLIKE’s FRP pultruded round tube combines continuous glass fiber with thermoset resin, giving you a profile that resists corrosion, weighs about a quarter of steel and stays electrically non-conductive. That combination pays off on site. Lighter tubes cut freight and handling costs, and because the surface never rusts, handrails, tool handles and telescopic poles keep working through years of salt air, chemicals and UV. Fewer replacements mean a lower lifetime cost. As a China-based manufacturer, TOLIKE supplies custom diameters, wall thicknesses and colors, with wholesale pricing and fast OEM sampling.

Advantages of FRP Pultruded Round Tubes

High Strength, Low Weight‌

Continuous glass fiber gives this ‌FRP pultruded round tube‌ twice the strength-to-weight ratio of steel, keeping structures rigid while weighing only a quarter as much.

Corrosion-Resistant, Zero Rust

The resin-rich surface never rusts, degrades in salt air, chemicals or moisture, outlasting steel and aluminum in coastal, marine and chemical plants.

Electrically Non-Conductive & Thermally Insulating

Ideal for handrails, ladders, tool handles and telescopic poles where metal tubing creates a safety or heat-transfer risk.

UV Stable in Outdoor Use

Added UV inhibitors keep the ‌fiberglass round tube‌ from fading, cracking or chalking after years of direct sunlight.

Smooth, Consistent Finish

Pultruded (not molded) production delivers a uniform surface and tight dimensional tolerance for reliable fitting and assembly.

Fully Customizable

Custom diameters, wall thicknesses, lengths, resin systems and colors — OEM sampling supported.

Factory-Direct Price

As a China ‌manufacturer‌, TOLIKE offers wholesale pricing, low MOQ and fast lead times.

Low Lifetime Cost‌

No painting, no rust repair, no frequent replacement: fewer maintenance hours and a lower total cost of ownership.

Applications of FRP Pultruded Round Tubes

Pultruded fiberglass round tube — also written as FRP round tubular profiles, GRP pultruded tubing or hollow glass-reinforced round tube — is specified less for what it is than for what its circular section can do. Unlike square or channel profiles, a round tube bends equally in every direction, with no weak axis; it slides smoothly inside a slightly larger tube; and it gives a clean, warm-to-touch gripping surface. Those three traits unlock applications that flat and angular profiles simply cannot cover.

Handrail & Guardrail Systems‌

Modular safety railing takes round tube as its top rail, stanchions and knee rail — the standard 50 mm OD size — across platform edges, walkways, stair towers and tank farms. Being non-conductive and non-sparking, it is the usual choice around live electrical equipment, and it never needs repainting.

Telescopic Poles & Antenna Masts‌

This is the application only a round section can serve. Sizes nest inside one another and lock at any height, building push-up antenna masts, CCTV and inspection poles, window-cleaning poles and collapsible flagpoles that extend on site and collapse for transport. Because the tube is dielectric, the mast itself does not detune or short the antenna.

Live-Line Tools & Insulating Operating Rods‌

High dielectric strength makes the tube suitable for hot sticks, insulating operating rods, polymer insulator cores and cable-support hardware used inside substations and switchyards, where a conductive path is a safety hazard.

Applications of Pultruded FRP Round Tubes

Cooling Towers & Chemical Plant Structures‌

Support frames, walkways, spray-header supports and fan-stack bracing sit in warm, chemically aggressive water year round. FRP round tube ignores the corrosion cycle that consumes coated steel in this environment.

Marine, Offshore & Waterfront‌

Boat framing, boarding poles, gangway rails, boat hooks and dock hardware survive constant salt spray and UV exposure without rust staining the deck or hull.

Tool Handles & Leisure Equipment‌

Round tube is the natural blank for axe, mallet and brush handles, fishing rod sections, tent poles and golf or football flag poles — it insulates the hand from cold and current, and absorbs shock instead of transmitting it.
Flag and tent poles show the same benefit on the leisure side: light enough for one person to raise, stiff enough to hold in wind, and immune to the corrosion that pits aluminium poles after a few seasons.

FAQ — FRP Pultruded Round Tube

Against steel, it weighs about one-quarter as much at a similar tensile strength, giving an excellent strength-to-weight ratio. Against aluminium it is stiffer for the same mass and, critically, does not pit, galvanise or corrode. Its circular section also bends equally in all directions, so unlike a flat or channel profile there is no weak axis to design around.

Yes. Our tubes are formulated with UV stabilisers, and a correctly resin-rich surface resists chalking and fibre bloom far better than unprotected composite. In salt air, chemical splash or continuous moisture the tube simply does not rust, so service life is governed by UV exposure and mechanical load rather than corrosion. Typical outdoor service life runs well beyond a decade with no repainting.

It machines much like hardwood — standard carbide-tipped saw blades, HSS bits and hole saws all work. Two rules matter: use sharp tooling with light feed to avoid delamination, and wear a dust mask plus eye protection, because the glass dust is a respiratory and skin irritant. Threads can be cut directly into thicker walls, and cut ends are usually sealed with resin or a matching coating to keep moisture out.

Yes. The material is a dielectric, with dielectric strength typically above 10 kV/mm, and it is non-magnetic and electromagnetically transparent. That is why it is common in hot sticks, insulating operating rods, antenna masts and around switchgear, where a conductive tube would be a safety or signal problem.

Three methods cover most assemblies: mechanical fixing with stainless fasteners and back-up plates, adhesive bonding with a two-part epoxy or methacrylate, and telescopic sleeving where one tube slides inside a larger one and is pinned or clamped. Use calibrated torque and avoid over-tightening, since excess bolt pressure can micro-crack the matrix.

Flame-retardant formulations meeting UL 94 V-0 with an oxygen index above 26 are available on request, which suits tunnels, rail and offshore work. On end-of-life, thermoset composite cannot be re-melted like steel, but the long maintenance-free service life is generally where the environmental case is strongest.
